Skimmer cover holes and winter??

Posted by rx7owner (My Page) on

Hello!
Our pool is now closed for winter :(
Our skimmer covers have holes in them. Should those covers be replaced with ones that dont have holes to prevent water from entering the skimmers or is that overkill?
thanks!

You should have a "Gizzmo" type plug in your skimmer box already for crack protection. If not, get them. The holes in the exterior plastic covers don't matter then.

The company that closes my pool uses the gizzmo's shown above and for added protection, I also cut up a foam noodle and place a piece in each skimmer to also help absorb freezing water pressure.
