I seriously doubt it was cemented.

Cut two deep scores, about an inch apart, in the fitting, stopping just before the MPV's threads. Then, with a flat head screwdriver, chisel the one inch section towards the center. The fitting should break free.

Thanks. I may give that a try. The PVC is "cement glued" in. I can not get it to budge at all. I talked with the guy at my local pool store and he said worse case, I would need to purchase a new Valve. I was hoping that i would not have to do that. I'll try cutting it out.

Should have written as "you couldn't thread it in that far".
