Rubber winter plugs or threaded plastic

What type of pool plug is better, a rubber expandable or threaded plastic?

Has anyone used the expandable rubber plugs for sealing off the return lines when blowing them out with success in closing an in-ground pool? The pool company used the rubber ones and I thought the threaded would be better. Thanks.

It doesn't make any difference which ones you use as long as they are fitted good. If you use the threaded plastic, make sure to use a good amount of teflon tape on the threads. Also, there is a threaded plastic plug with an o-ring that doesn't require you to use any teflon. They all work equally well as long as they are installed the right way.

I like the 1022 plugs if you can use them...
