Build my own waterfall?

I had laminar jets installed when the pool was build. they are soooo loud. I would like to use one (or three) of the existing jet lines and create a nice peaceful-sounding waterfall....a gurgling/dripping sound. Like with slate type pieces and large rocks. My deck is travertine laid on a sand base, no grout, and I have a natural coping (not bullnose). My question for those of you who may have done this: Can I do this myself? Do I need to use concrete to adhere rocks to deck or can I just lay them. I don't want to break anything or invalidate my pool warranty... yet I can't afford at this point to hire a professional to do the work. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
