Pool Pump Box or Enclosure

Posted by concretehole (My Page) on

My Pentair pump sits near the pool and it can be a little noisy when running at higher speeds. I was thinking about building a sound box to put over it to deaden the sound. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this before or seen plans? I am also wondering if I cut down the flow of air to the pump if it could over-heat or shorten the life?

I think it would depend on just how much air flow was impeded. Pentair suggests their equipment should be covered from rain & sun - perhaps you could build something with one side and a roof that would direct the sound away from the pool?
