My pool was installed in 2004. I have had difficulty with my Jandy gas heater since the beginning. Obviously, the heater is out of warranty now. The pool repair guy (Jandy representative) says that my heater is one of the first energy saving heaters and they have been tempermental since the start but the newer heaters are less tempermental. He is starting to mumble that I need a new heater. Is this realistic - the heater is only 6 years old? Would a heat pump be better? I like to swim year round but need the pool pretty warm for my arthritis.
