Inground pool walls starting to cave in

Just moved into a house that has an inground pool. about 16'x32' or so.
The previous owners used the pool all last year but I knew there were problems with the pool and that I may have to fill it.
On one side of the pool you can see that the wall is bowed in. I brought one construction company in and the guy said he didn't trust the integrity of the walls and would fill it in.
I brought two other companies in and they said they would try opening the pool and that there is no danger of the walls collapsing while the pool is filled because of the pressure put on the walls by the water, and that if they do collapse eventually it would be if the pool were empty.
Has anyone had to deal with this? I'm thinking I"m going to open the pool and use it for the rest of this summer (I'll end up with about 6-8 weeks of usage) and see how it goes. Filling is always an option down the road.
I'll try and post some pics later but I'd appreciate any input.
