Temp Sensor 520254 bad ?

Pool is 4 years old. The outside sensor can't calibrate, it keeps showing 35 which keeps turning on the freeze and yeah, its 95 here in Florida. Do these things go bad ? I have the same one for the water which is fine. Any other reason why it would keep sending the wrong temp other than the sensor is broke ?

We had one go bad in our pool (only 2 years old). It was showing 110 F when the pool water was 50. They apparently go bad frequently.

We bought a new on online for $40 or so, and it was easy to install.
