What are the pros/cons of the different pool flter systems. I was looking at saline but I'm reading that salt water ysytems can damage pipes and pool equipment. I also want to get an automatic pool cover and I don't know if you can use salt filters with an automatic cover. My husband was talking about is it Oxygen or ozone??? Any ideas??? Sorry I'm such a newbie.

Twingle,
Filtering is different from sanitation. Salt water is used to produce chlorine and works with any filtration system. Ozone, UV, and ionization sytems are typically supplements to chlorine sanitizing.

The 3 filtration syatems used for pools are DE, Sand, and Cartridge filters. Each varies a little in its ability to filter fine particles. All will work if sized properly.
Good luck.
