cloudy water

Hi,

I installed new cartridge filters and balanced my water. My dad decided to drop a chlorine tablet at the same time and my pool is now cloudy.

It has been cloudy for 3 days.

The water chemistry is ok except too much phosphate. Would this cause my pool to be cloudy?

Cartridge filters filter better as they get dirtier. Your old fliters probably looked pretty ugly but because of the dirt they were filtering the finer particles in the water.
Your new filters are nice and clean and actually have less ability to filter the fine particles. This could be your primary problem. You might try using a flocculating agent.

I have cartridges as well, and when my water gets a bit cloudy, I use a clarifier that helps the smaller particles stick to the filter better.
