over winter chemicals

Hi,
Last year I had some pucks and granular chlorine left over. This spring I used them when starting up, but wondered if they had lost some of their vigor.
Does anyone know if these chemicals loose 'any', 'some', or a 'a lot' of their effectiveness after spending the winter in a cold pool shed?

Yes, the chemicals will lose potency, faster if the containers are not air-tight.

Hi Randy,
Thanks. I've added so many pucks (from last year), that the pool is now cloudy, I think from stabilizer in the pucks. Is this possible?

Hi Randy,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you; but about a day after I posted my queery the pool seemed to be clearing up, so I left it for a while and now it's not too bad.
However, I still have one question. Is there a way of reconditioning the sand in the filter, without taking the unit apart, or do I have to replace the filter media?
