They started at 7:30 this morning and finished around 1pm. Now we wait for 2 days before the plumbing for the infloor cleaning system gets done. I feel like this is going to be a hurry up and wait process LOL

The biggest wait will be for the gunite to cure.

It is so much fun watching the build. We had neighbors coming over to sit on the back porch to watch! Very interesting!

Fabulous pool! Could you give those of us in planning stage an idea of cost/budget??

The pool itself, including pump, lights, decking, pebble tec, tile etc was roughly $47,500. We added the infloor cleaning system which was a little over $5,000. The boulder waterfall/slide we designed is close to $21,000 and the concrete tree for the swing was $12,000.

Can't wait to see the slide! How big is it?
We've signed and are waiting on HOA right now (we are also putting in a waterfall/slide but I'm guessing it will be a lot smaller than yours (Offhand I think it's costing us about $12k)

Coming along really nicely so far, can't wait to see the finished pool!

They are working on the tree and waterfall today. I will take pics of the waterfall later today. They have finished stamping it and have welded the branches to the tree and are putting gunite on it today as long as the rain holds off, fingers crossed.

Pebble Tec was done today. Tahoe Blue is the color we chose. Acid wash wash tomorrow then we can start adding water. 3 of the coping stones need to be replaced and the deck still is not finished but we are at least going to get to swim while we wait :)

    Dear Folks:

First of all congratulations on your pool.

We have built a concrete pool, which was casted (walls and floor) all together at the same time.

In the beginning the contractor was supposed to place an inner PVC liner but since we didn't like this solution he suggested we waterproof the inner part (no the outside which is already covered with clean sand) and cover it either with marbelite or ceramics.
Do you have any idea of the best material for waterproofing (if needed?) and for the inner cover? Many thanks for your attention.

They finished the decking today and are spreading some dirt and bringing out my chemicals tomorrow.

It looks great. The slide and tree look fantastic.
What have they got left to do? Looks like you're nearly set!

  • Cherrytx

Not much! Just the dirt work and waiting for the pool to fill up so we can add chemicals. I am doing the landscaping myself and it will take some time because we just bought the 12 acres behind us so we will be doing some more land clearing this fall/winter. My girls were swimming in it yesterday and we even grabbed a 5 gallon bucket to pour water while they slid down the slide LOL

It is finally full! I have pool school tomorrow. The water is a little cloudy so hoping to get it cleared up. Got the rope today too for the tree. Hoping to put it up soon. Will post picks tomorrow. Also going to start landscaping, landscaping, landscaping, thank goodness for the sale at
Houston Garden Center. It is all month long and possibly Sept too!

Congrats! Does that mean you'll be swimming this weekend?

We may go back and buy some more plants/palms. The issue for us we need to keep them alive in pots/planters until the pool is done so maybe 5/6 weeks!

FYI....someone started a new thread wanting to see final pictures of your build! They couldn't locate this one. They were interested in seeing the tree and rope swing at completion. If you are up for it, we would love to see the final product:)!
