Urgently Need replastering/Sequestering Agent Advice

We've had our pool replastered with Diamond Brite Super Blue - I think it's a quartz, no pebbles.
Our instructions say to add a sequestering agent as soon as it's full, but when I went to Leslie's to purchase a sequestering agent, the guy asked, What do you want to sequester?"
He checked my water sample and said I have no copper or iron, so I don't need a metal sequestering agent. He said I need to have my ph sequestered.
I know I'll have to balance the ph (the hose water going in is quite high now - well over 8) but is the acid I have to add considered a sequestering agent?
Leslie's sell something called "Metal Free" - is that what I should add? Can it hurt to add it even if I don't have any copper or iron?
The pb who did the replastering isn't really being helpful - all he tells me to do is ask my pool guy. But my pool guy is not familiar with Diamond Brite.
Help! The pool is filling quickly.
