I have no idea but if you go to You Tube and search Green Pools, you'll find a ton of videos that show how people clean up REALLY green pools - full of algae. I've never heard of having a pool professionally vacuumed.

If by a dolphin you mean a robot vacuum, I would say that is not enough. Do you have a vacuum?

We had a pool years ago and we did hire to open and close the pool, but during the season we would vacuum the pool with the long vacuum like arm and a long hose. It was kind of mindless and fun. I don't remember it actually had algae in the pool though. It was just cloudy in the spring after the cover came off.

They WILL handle the algae IF:

1 - You change out or clean the clogged Pentair cartridges during and after pollen season.

2 - You run the automatic pool cleaner more often - preferable regularly on a timer.

3 - You use a "flocculant" to settle the micro particles so the filters can remove it.

4 - You brush down the sides regularly to get where the dolphin doesn't.

Slowly my garage is expanding with more pool items then I can handle. IF I again see the algae I will buy a pool vacuum. I am hoping I do not need this expense.
I had googled and searched the you tube clips on opening a pool and removing the algae. I had scrubbed the walls and used the robotic vacuum before adding any chemicals thinking the agitation would kill the algae faster. I had also cleaned off the filter cartridges after the pool was slammed.
A tiny "snowflake dusting was emerging on top of the pool and the tile along the step out had a slick feel to it.

I took a hand scrub brush to the steps and around and underneath the skimmer boxes. Voila there was still algae along the skimmer entry site.
I re slammed the pool and added the flocculant.
I ran the dolphin again . The filter bag had a slight amount of brown discoloration. Presently the pool looks perfect.
