 o
flow meter installation

I have a question about the installation of a F300 Blue-White flow meter. According to the installation drawing, the flow meter would require a minimum straight pipe length of 28".
Because of space limitations, I cannot achieve( 8" to short) the required length between the outflow side of the heater and the valve to the return lines to the pool. I can however place the meter between the outflow of the filter and the inflow of the heater.
My question is,
How will placement in this location effect accuracy.
Would it be better to achieve the length required by plumbing a series of 3, 90 deg turns?

Any help would be appreciated.

These meters are very sensitive to pressure differentials in plumbing. Reducing the pipe lengths can create turbulence near the meter which will in turn cause it to read incorrectly. How much, I do not know but the manufacture might know.

The flow entering the heater is the same as the flow exiting the heater. Thus, if you can get the required 28" of straight run between the filter and the heater, go for it. I wouldn't add additional fittings simply to get the required 28" length in the heater outflow line. That would increase overall head loss and reduce flow.
