Green stains in corners

What causes green buildup on the plaster in the corners of the pool, on steps and on bottom where it meets the side? How do I get rid of this? Has not happened the first 2 years I've had the pool.

If it is lite green and brushes off easily it is probably mustard algae. This will need to be treated with a specific algicide. Read and follow directions carefully for best kill!
If the algae is dark green you may be able to brush it and superchlorinate the pool.
Steps and corners are always the most likely places for algae growth. Good luck.
