Raising coping to match deck overlay

Would like your opinions on the best method to address this problem. My existing coping surrounding the inground pool is precast concrete which is level with the existing concrete deck. Plans are to add a 1/2" stamped concrete overlay to the deck but this will cause the deck to be 1/2" higher than the coping.

Option 1: remove the coping, mortar underneath and raise them 1/2" to match the deck height. What about the gap poolside between the underside of the coping and the top of the tile?

Option 2: don't know whether this is even an option. Continue the concrete overlay onto the top side of the coping and blend into coping keeping the expansion joint open.

Other options?

Thank you.
