Should I DIY my 80K pool project or pick a builder?

Looking for opinions and guidance in Texas-DFW Area on whether I should DIY my pool project or choose from several local pool builders. I have read several posts and looked at a few websites regarding DIY pool projects. From the information I have gathered I am feeling more confident that I can take on this project and DIY it myself, it would save me over 16K. Am I missing something? Is there really some overwhelming risk that I have not envisioned? Please offer your opinions no matter how scary they may be. Thanks for your input and I will respond in kind.

Can you meet with a pool builder and see if you could negotiate the price down to what you want before making a decision? :)

No way would I tackle an $80k project on my own. Just think about the end product. If it were not right and you had to hire someone to come fix it anyway you could easily spend that $16k you initially saved. I say leave a project of this magnitude to the professionals.
