A friend used slate on his pool decking. He ripped it out midway during the first summer, way to hot and slippery. Central Florida.

I have slate over a slab on my pool patio. About 1800sqft. I'm in CT.

Overall the patio gets full sun, though I do have a pergola that shades a portion of the patio.

The first summer the slate was down it did seem hot underfoot, but I'm not sure if it was from us just being used to the cooler bare concrete slab. The temp of the slate hasn't been a problem at all in recent years.

I used 16" slate tiles and grouted with a charcoal grout applied with a grout bag.

thanks. maddie i wonder if your friend used the smooth slaTe tile which is typically used indoors. THe tile i am considering has a shale quality to it, s/n be slippery.
