Pump Problem

I'm the husband: We had a 3/4 HP SuperFlo. Pump quit. I took it apart and found a dead frog binding the motor. I removed it and the pump would run for a few seconds then shut off. I then replaced the capacitor. Same problem, though it would run for 30 seconds instead of 10s. After ordering a replacement pump, same model, I installed it and the same thing happened. When I first applied power, the pump ran for 10s and shut off. Turned it on after a few minutes, and it seemed to be working, water began to flow, then the motor started to smoke within 60s. The switch is set to 230 on the pump, and the voltage is ~230v. Any ideas how I can fix this? It has been a couple of weeks since we had a working pump, and I need a working pump soon.
