Drought then followed by abnormal winter freezing for the area has taken its toll on my already over its life expectancy pool. It either needs a redo or removal. Need some recommendations for companies that do remodels in the north Dallas metro area.

Also I know I need to call my city and ask but is it typical to need a permit for a pool remodel? I have had two companies look at it so far and both said no permit if not changing electrical or adding more decking. Does that seem right?

One says main drain has to be switched out to bring it up to code, other says that is for commercial/municipal pools only and if main drain line pressure tests out it is fine and better not to bust out gunite.
