Is There a Pool Cover Pump That Lasts?

I'm on my third Rule 1800 pool cover pump in two years. They just keep dying and apparently its just not me. A quick look at the reviews on Amazon indicate that lots of people are having the same thing. A couple of weeks, a year, maybe a bit more and these things just stop working.

Perhaps I shouldn't complain since each time one of the pumps fails Rule happily sends me a new one (so far) but it just seems like life would be so much easier if I could buy something that would last.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. I'd gladly pay two or even three times the price of what the Rule pump costs for a quality pump but they don't seem to exist.

This isn't rocket science. A pump is nothing more than a motor, impeller, housing and water level switch. Filter pumps work for years.

Anybody have a suggestion for a pool cover pump that might do likewise?
