Adding heater to pool?

We would like to add a heater to our existing pool. We live in southwest Houston. Any suggestions on who to call for quotes? Do we go to pool builders or pool supply stores?

Also, are natural gas heaters the best kind? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Forgot to mention that we have an in ground pool that is approx. 16k gallons.

peymar3, The reason I was asking is there may be more than one way to bring the water temp up to where you want, when you want it.

If you have a spa, I would go with a gas fired unit. If not, then there is also a heat pump solution and a solar solution that may fit your needs.

Sorry for the delay in answering your questions... No, we do not have a spa attached. We mainly want a heater to extend our swimming season (spring & early fall). Thanks for the help!

Got a large southern exposed roof top? If the prevailing wind isn't too strong, solar may be suitable. A heat pump, assuming you have enough power capacity or are willing to u/g the service, may also be reasonable and cost less over time in terms of energy dollars spent.
