Would highly recommend converting to salt. Makes pool maintenance sooo easy. Simple install as the chlorinator is simply installed in the plumbing downstream of the filter. All you need is an electrical outlet for the control box which is mounted in the same area as all your other pool equipment.

Thanks so much. People seem to love the salt. We are first time pool owners so we didn't really get how much of a hassle the chlorine is going to turn out to be. I did a lot a research on the cost side, but not enough on the ease of use side. I hope I haven't cost myself extra by making this decision now rather than up front.

Salt pools are chlorine pools. Remember, the appliance is called a salt water chlorine generator.

Most pools see the pH rise instead of going down with tablets.

The salt in the water makes the water less likely to draw salt from your eyes and skin. This is the same principle in action for calcium in the water to keep it from being drawn from a plaster finish.
