Cement Pool Coping Help

IN process of replastering and recouping the pool, cut out 10" of cement from the edge of the entire pool, completed the framing but was wondering if we need to use rebar to connect the new cement oping into the main pool deck or keep it separate, your thoughts and insight is highly welcomed.
