Time to replace the old concrete laundry tub, few questions.

First, the old concrete laundry tub takes up too much space, second it just started clogging up so definitely is time to go with a single plastic one. Now my question is what exactly do I have to do with the existing pipe coming out of the floor? Do I cut it, or just try to fit a PVC trap in it? It is really old and all bend up......Need an expert for some guidance here..thanks, mike
