clatter in pipes when water running, not hammer or ping

Question about clatter in pipes when water running, not hammer or ping when water is turned off.

We've a case where we get clatter when either toilet is flushed. It gets louder as the tank fills. The mechanism in the tanks is new and the clatter did not start until some months after the new mechanisms were installed. When water is running in the bathroom sink we usually don't get the clatter.

Is the sound caused by air bubbles or do the pipes vibrate like a guitar string or do the pipes bump against something or what?

Do we need to incur the expense of a plumber?
