 o
New sewer line and trees

My city is relocating the sewer line from the back of the property to the front along the street. I signed off on a plan to route the new line around the side of my house which requires trenching through my patio and down my driveway. The other side of my house has about 3-5 mature oak trees.

I've been told that the construction company has a boring machine that can dig under the oak tree roots and not damage them. The arborist with the engineering company that devised the plan recommended staying 10 feet away from mature trees and thus the patio/driveway plan.

Anyone have experience digging under oak trees? I just don't know which way to go.
