Sink Pop-Up Plunger assembly

I have a bathroom sink with a pop-up plunger stopper. The plunger looks like this

It is connected to the pull knob on the sink via a cable. At the bottom end of the cable there is a plastic piece that screws into the vertical drain pipe under sink. The sink is clogged and water drains out very slow (probably full of hair and gunk). I took apart the trap assembly -- it is rather clean, which leaves me to think the problem is in the vertical pipe/plunger area. I never saw the cable controlled assembly for the sink stopper. Before I take it apart, I need to know how it goes back together. Anyone has a link to a diagram that would show me how all the parts go back together?
