Water Leak on Newly Constructed House

socoolman

We bought a brand new 2-story house which was built two months ago from a reputed builder, and now we found that there was some water leaking from the central heat vent dripping down to the kitchen island whenever the upstairs Master bathroom shower was being used. The builder agreed on fixing the leak, but we still worry about the water damage may be severe and spread out to the entire 1st floor ceiling which may damage lights, speakers, and the subfloor; if so, the 1st floor's entire ceiling sheetrock, lights, speakers, outlets, and parts of the subfloor may all need to be replaced. Should the builder be responsible for our loss and inconvenience as well, besides fixing the leak? What are the options we having? We are now worried and very disappointed about the overall quality of our house.

Thank you for your advice.
