Maintenance on a new LP hot water heater

Posted by andyhutch1947 (My Page) on

We are now building a new house here in Missouri and this is the first gas or LP hot water heater I have ever had. I have always had an electric version and I would like to know what type of preventive maintenance I need to know about in this hot water heater?

Thanks in advance for your posts.

I would ask the installer for the paperwork that came with the unit. If not, get the make , model and s/n and go to the manufacturers website.

Make absolutely sure you don't have a closed plumbing system If you do then correct for thermal expansion.

If you have hard water or water with a low or high PH correct those problems.

Drain the WH once a year without fail. EZ to forget to do, but if you don't forget it will pay off in the long run.
