xpost, moving washer dryer to upstairs 2nd flr bathrm

Also posting this on laundry forum.
I have an asko washer dryer, stacking in a closet type setup on main floor.
In the 2nd floor bathroom, I have a separate shower and separate tub. We never use the separate shower. Eventually we will remodel bathroom and would like to move the washer dryer upstairs to that shower spot. Now we are re-doing the kitchen. That includes an open ceiling where plumbing for the upstairs bathroom is. What should I consider doing now in order to have plumbing ready for future washer dryer move?
Also, while that ceiling is open, maybe electrical can be looked at now too.
Suggestions please.
TIA

| I believe you need a 2" drain for the washer. You also need a drain pan under the washer that goes to a drain. You will need 120v 20A outlet for the washer on its own circuit, a 240v outlet for the dryer and gas stub out if you have gas. Consider too how your are going to vent the dryer. You may want to do that work now while the ceiling is open. |

Thank you. If I install a 2" drain for the washer, can I use the separate shower drain (that currently connects up to the tub drain) for the drain pan under the washer that goes to a drain. Can I just sit the washer in the old shower? |

| One thing to consider when having a 2nd floor laundry is the vibration caused by the washer. Is your main floor wooden joists or are you on a slab? If you have joists, then you may already be aware of this potential issue. One thing I would do under the current shower is reinforce the floor. sister the joists in the area and add blocking between them. Just my suggestion. I'm not a pro. |
