Placement of shower body valves and showerhead

My tub/shower is being converted to a shower only. The walls are open and the plumber is coming tomorrow to install the shower valves. The contractor is building a custom shower base. The way is used to be, with the showerhead and valves on the same wall, we had to reach across the toilet that was next to the tub or squeeze in between the tub and the toilet to turn on the shower. It was a little awkward. We stepped in at the far end but didn't get wet until we stepped under the spray. We can move everything to other wall to make it easier to turn it on from outside, but then we'd have to be stepping right into the spray. Or we can keep the shower head where it is and just move the valves to the opposite end so we can turn it on easily from outside but get in without having to step immediately into the spray. Are there any drawbacks to doing this? Loss of pressure? Anything else I should consider?

no loss of pressure. Do it as you want it.
