need some help with a trip lever problem

Our toilet was installed with the trip/handle lever in place and done so we found out because it could not have been done after it was installed on the floor because there is about 2" between handle and the wall, when the lever broke.
So while I can cut the stick and get the whole piece out, I have to figure out how to get a new side trip/handle in. The toilet is a one piece Toto Guinevere.
If anyone has a fix let me know.
I really, really, really don't want to have to buy a new toilet. Being a one piece means the tile will have to be broken to get the toilet out too. For what would normally be about 30.00 fix to buy a new trip lever, if I don't get a DIY fix, I am looking at close to 800.00 because I cannot get a trip lever into my toilet!

Is there a side handle trip lever that anyone knows about that comes in 2 pieces or one I can make into 2 pieces and install?
