| At my lakehouse there is a kenmore ultrasoft 250 1 cu. ft. water softener. I had the water tested before the softener and it read 18 grains hardness + 2 ppm iron. Its all elecronic so I enetered the hardness at 30 3 day max. days between regenerations and the extra clean set to on. Does this sound right? what should the salt efficiency be set to onn or off? Generally I recharge before I leave and the neighbor turns the water to the house off and unplugs the softener. Most of the time there are 2 people here with company in and out. However at times there are 6 here. We only use it on weekends.

| With the water usage, water conditions, infrequent occupancy, and the softener you have there is no good answer. There is no setting that will not result in problems. You do need to be concerned that when the neighbor turns the water to the house off and unplugs the softener that it can not freeze. |
