Maybe use PVC pipe? I know some folks make hoop greenhouses with the stuff.

That's exactly what I'm thinking, too. I haven't gone to the hardware store yet to see how wide the pieces come. Or, if they come in black. I'd hate to have white plumbing pieces in my yard! LOL!

My thought would be to run rebar or some kind of stiff pipe between them to make it more stable.

Do you think I'm on the right track? I might have to hit Lowe's tomorrow!

Well, I can see other uses for those great spools, but to make a moon gate, I'd have to remove all the spokes. But I like 'em!

I am thinking if they've assembly required, perhaps it could be assembled differently and make a prefect moon gate, with a smaller one! Tell me, have you seen one in person?

Thonotorose, I have called for prices on some of the bale feeders. The ones that come in 2 pieces seem perrrrrfect. I'm also willing to bet the picture I showed is actually a Souix Farm Equipment bale feeder, just modified.

Tarter also makes one out of black poly tubing. Which means I might be able to make one of these myself. :) Even better. I've written to ask them about the details.
