Thermasol Low water - calcium buildup

I wonder if anyone can help. We bought a house with a Thermasol steam shower. LOVE it. Problem is that it stopped working. The low water thing is blinking. As far as we can tell it's most likely calcium buildup. Hard water here.

I called a plumber and they said that they'd need to uninstall the unit, send it out, and reinstall it. It will cost $500-$600. I am wondering if we are SOL and need to do this, or if anyone here has opened up their unit and cleared out calcium buildup on their own?

Can't help with any info on the Thermasol, but manuals and operating instructions are available for download at their web site.

Unless you want to be dealing with this problem on a regular basis you should consider curing the disease instead of just treating the symptom.

Those same calcium (hardness) deposits are shortening the service life of your plumbing, appliances, fixtures, and costing you money in soap and detergents.

yeah, a water softener would certainly help. it's on The List.

we have looked at our manuals, but haven't checked their website for anything additional. Thank you.

I called Thermasol and they sent some instructions along. Yay! they also said that things might be covered under warranty so I just have to call back with my serial number and such. why didn't I think of calling them in the first place?
