Can removing a toilet affect the other toilets?

We're doing a master bath remodel, and currently the toilet is gone (awaiting tile and such). That bathroom in general is in a gutted state (no fixtures). Since this happened, our other two toilets don't flush properly half the time. It's like they don't drain all the way before refilling. Water pressure in the house seems fine. Could the two things be related? The two remaining toilets started acting the same around the same time, are on different floors of the house, and they are different models (one is a new-ish water efficient model, the other is probably 10-15yrs old).

Water pressure is not an issue in a flush: the flushing action is a result of the emptying of the tank, and I assume you've checked to see that the tanks fill to the appropriate height. The only thing I can think of is that some debris fell into the hole after you removed the one toilet and that that is causing a blockage of the sewer line or is somehow interfering with the vent. Two questions: 1) What is the location of the removed toilet in relation to the others? (i.e., is it "upstream" or at the highest level of the house?), and 2) Have you done any modifacations to any of the drain or vent lines in the process of the remodel?

Toilet that was removed is downstairs...2 remaining is 1 up/1 down (sharing same wall as the removed).

I don't think they've done any modifications...mostly just a cosmetic remodel.

Could just be a weird coincidence I guess.

I'm not a plumber, so I can't give you an absolute answer, but it seems funny that both of the other toilets would start acting up at the same time. Did they ever give you any problems before? Is it possible that there is debris that fell down the exposed hole that is causing a backup? Is there any way something could have fallen into the vent stack that comes out of the roof for the toilets?

About the toilet you removed:
Have you left that toilet's drain hole open? Or sealed it 100%?

If you increase or decrease the venting in your drains, there will be an impact on the toilet flush.

In your plumbing, have you left any pipes open?
Have you increased the air flow in any other way?
