Can I use this gas valve?

Greetings,
I am running a 3/4" nat. gas line through the side of my house for an emergency generator. I have this new ball valve lying around rated 2000 WOG and made of WCB (cast steel), specs far in excess of the 11" W.C. gas pressure it would handle. It has a threaded 1/4" NPT waste port to dump downstream pressure upon closing. It also has a locking handle, a definite plus for an outside valve.

Since it has no AGA certs on it though I am wondering about the code legality of using it.

Ask your inspector, he's the one who gets to make the call in any event.

My strong suspicion is that a gas valve has to have an AGA stamp to be legal, I sure wouldn't want to risk a spark in the wrong place.

R Wiegand is correct, but it's not worth asking the inspector.

Sure it needs to have AGA stamp... a valve is less than $15, the inspector's time is worth more than that.

Thanks for your input. I'll go with an AGA valve to satisfy code.
