Where to find part for obsolete SYMMONS shower valve?

We have a circa 1970 Symmons shower valve. According to the faceplate it's a Model A.

The tub/shower diverter lever broke. Current replacement is a commonly available "T-30" but that won't fit. Called the manufacturer in MA and they told me the part we need is obsolete and not available anymore.

The new part has a square shank on two sides, and a somewhat splined shank on the other two sides. The part we need has a square shank and a 1/2 diameter circular part attached just next to where it clips onto the faceplate. The circular part mates with the valve assembly.

Our valve has has what I believe to be an adjustable setscrew/stop for the water temperature located behind the faceplate and just below the diverter assembly. This is not present on the current model.

Any help in finding a replacement diverter lever appreciated.

You might do a search in your area for someone who carries materials salvaged from demolished houses.
