Support straps for horizontal drain pipe snapped

Hi, earlier today I heard a series of loud popping noises in my basement and I went down to see that numerous plastic support straps that were holding up a drain pipe had completely snapped. Luckily the ABS piping didn't break and I was able to prop the pipe back up. I'm confused on how I should support it now. The original support consists of pvc pipes nailed to the joists with a plastic strap at the end of them. Obviously, they no longer make these anymore. Should I try running blocks of 2x4's down to the pipe and attach plastic support wraps to it or can I get away with hanging the plastic supports directly from the joists? Thanks in advance.

Given that you have all ready seen the plastic hangers pop, I would suggest that you go to a metal clevis type hanger. Support it off of 3/8" all-thread and put a jam nut on both sides to lock it. At the top you can drill holes in the 2x4's and run the all thread through that. This is a permanent solution.

Nail 2x between the joists tight to the floor sheating, wraps couple of turns of plumbers 20mil tape around the drain where you want the supports to be. Using heavy duty, pre-punched metal plumbers tape, in a "U" configuration, support the drain, maintaining the proper slope.

You can restrict sideways motion by installing opposing "U" brackets to the sides of the joists.

Use #8x 1-1/4" deck screws.
