Connecting Sewer to Broken Pipe Through Footer

David B

I had to have the footers dug out and repaired on our cabin in the north woods. In the process, the excavator broke off the existing plastic sewer pipe to the septic, and it's almost flush with the concrete footer.

I need to splice a new piece of PVC sewer pipe in there but can't figure out how to connect it since there's no exposed pipe to go inside a female fitting or another pipe.

I could theoretically chisel away enough of the concrete from the pipe to expose enough to connect a fitting to, but I worry that the concrete may be bonded tight to the PVC and couldn't be separated cleanly. Besides, this sounds like a real chore.

Is there a fitting that would go inside this pipe? I think it's just a standard 4" plastic sewer pipe. Or any other method that could be used?

Thanks for any suggestions.

David
