question about venting for peninsula sink

I questioned my contractor about the venting for the new peninsula sink and he said that since the new drain was connected to existing drain, it needed no additional venting. Just want to be sure this setup is OK.

I am guessing that the large pipe in the wall is the vent pipe. It is about 4 feet away from the drain (3 feet to wall and 1 foot right angle). There is a bit of a vertical turn at the 90 degree angle between the 3 feet and 1 foot sections as well.

The old kitchen sink drainage used to connect in the wall where it is now capped off. There is a basement bathroom under this area of the kitchen, that is why the drainage tubing just happens to be in just the right location. (You can see the exhaust fan ducting for the basement bathroom on the right of the picture)
