hose faucet leaking with new washer

I replace the washer for the hose faucet, but it is still leaking at the bottom where the threads are for connecting a hose. I went to a home improvement store to ask what I could do other than replacing a washer. I was not given any answers.

How many years can a hose faucet last. Mine is about 6 years (and that's when the house was built. Who knows if it was a bad or used faucet already), and it has started leaking actually 2 years ago already. I did not fix it because I did not have to use it often, but now I do.

Any suggestions?

RE: hose faucet leaking with new washer

New washer and tighten it with pump pliers.

The actual seal is between the washer and the metal section on the end of the hose.

The threaded shell just pulls things tightly together.
