Help! Lukewarm water from cold tap (Delta Trinsic).

I have a Delta Trinsic that is about one year old. When the faucet is all the way on cold, the water comes out lukewarm. I can never get cold water to come out of that tap and it has done this since the faucet was new. I called Delta and they sent me a new valve. Unfortunately, the new valve does exactly the same thing. The lack of cold water thing drives me nuts, especially when I am washing lettuce. I have nice cold lettuce coming out of the fridge, and by the time I am done washing the leaves, it is warm.

I called Delta about the new valve giving me the same problem, and they suggested it was because my water heater is set too high. It isn't, it is set on the minimum hot setting. I have a brand new water heater, just replaced a couple of months ago, but I had the same problem with the old water heater in place. Also, I get cold water out of every other faucet in my house so the problem is isolated at the Delta. I did not have this problem prior to my remodel.

Any suggestions?

If you didn't insulate your pipes, both hot and cold, they will warm up to whatever the ambient temperature might be where they are run. That could be 150ÃÂ° in the attic, or it could be 80ÃÂ° in a crawlspace in summer. Not insulating pipes could be a big problem for the coming winter as well.

Did you put in a hot water recirculating system?

I don't even know what that is, so no, I don't think so. I put in a new hot water heater ... tank. But the problem existed with the old tank as well.

Our gray water tank is just outside the kitchen and during the day, when I want to run cold water, it always comes warm, in Jul/Aug could be described as hot. wondering if your piping is buried at a level that is high enough to be warmed by the sun. The rest of our faucets are cold/hot like they should. it is just this particular one that does this.

You know, its kinda like a hose in the patio. At least for me, during warm months, the first few minutes that I run the hose, water is very warm. Then it gets to normal.

One way to check to see if the hot water line is flowing while the faucet is turned on to cold only is to follow these steps :

1) Turn off all water to that sink for at least an hour.
2) Turn it on to cold as you normally would washing lettuce.
3) Let it run for a few minutes on cold.
4) Once it feels luke warm as before then go under the sink and feel the hot water line to see if it's cold or hot. If it's warm or hot then something is off. Sorry I have no solution for a fix.

vgkg, I did as you instructed. The hot water line is cold. We did move plumbing for the new kitchen as we have the sink on a different wall now. I have pictures of the rough-in plumbing, both under the slab and behind the walls and the lines for hot and cold are completely separate so I don't understand how the hot and cold water could be crossing over except in the valve. But if I turn off the hot water under the sink, I still get that lukewarm water from the faucet. Water runs cold at first, then warms up a little. I'm baffled.

live_wire_oak, we are on a slab. The pipes are insulated in the wall. But the new location of the sink is on an exterior wall whereas the old sink location was on an interior wall. Do you think that might have something to do with it? I am in California so freezing pipes isn't an issue. I also had an inspector here looking at every step of this remodel.

This just happened today, the hot water stays lukewarm and never gets hot. It worked just fine yesterday and we have changed or done nothing.
