Delta 1400 Bathtub Faucet Reassembly

| I repaired a Delta 1400 series bathtub faucet, but when reassembling the faucet, I can't figure out where to place the o-ring that goes under the sleeve.
When I pulled the sleeve off it was pretty tough to remove, and of course I couldn't tell where the o-ring was originally placed. When I try to put the sleeve back on, the o-ring slides down (if I can even get the sleeve over top of the o-ring). The diagram on the Delta website isn't too helpful.
This is a similar model: http://www.deltafaucet.com/media/Product_Tech_Docs/Parts_Diagram/Models_1300_1400_5a03.pdf
thanks. |

| I can't pull up the dirgram, but in general, the O ring should be fitting into a groove. This should help keep it from moving. Then I would lubricate the o ring with something like vasoline. With the two above done, you should be able to slide the sleeve back on (working it side to side if necessary). If the o ring is still moving I would think that it's not in the right position or not in the proper groove. |

| The o-ring that holds the trim sleeve in place does not actually fit into a groove. It fits freely behind the bonnet nut. No petroleum based lubricant should ever be used on a rubber part as it will cause deterioration. If you must, use a silicon based lubricant. |
