Crawl Space vs Ceiling Piping

Hi - I am building an addition - and there will be a crawl space under the addition (no full basement). We are at the point of determining where the water pipes should go (we have clean water, waste, and heating. I live in New England - and there is concern about putting it in the crawl space due to freezing (especially for clean water); but there is also concern about leaks over the ceiling. What do you recommend?

Not sure I'd be worried about leaks, however freezing would seem a concern in both the crawl space AND the attic.

I'm in MD and have no water pipes in the attic and none in the outer walls of my two story colonial with basement.

Crawl space.

Use spray foam on the interior of the perimeter crawl space walls, sill plate and rim joist area. You will have a much warmer floor and your pipes won't freeze.

Be sure to insulate your hot water lines to reduce wait times for hot water.

PEX plumbing can also reduce the threat of broken pipes due to freezing. PEX can be chewed by rodents though.
