I just moved to a new house, and discovered a fruit rat is living in the 4" plumbing vent. I mentioned it to a plumber that was doing some work here, and he just said, "yep, they'll do that". Should I worry about it, can it do some damage? I thought of putting hardware cloth over the vent, but I'm afraid I'd trap it in the vent, especially if there's more than one. I considered trapping it, but figure another one would just move in. I really just want to keep them out of my vents.
