septic tank connections

I have a concrete aeration system connected to a leach field that the aerator has not worked in five years. A developer is installing city sewer behind my house about 300 ft away uphill. I want to connect to that main with a force main. My question is can I put an effluent pump in the last compartment of the tank or must I put in another tank or no tank and a grinder pump?

If you are going to be hooking to a city or county sewer system then they will usually have specs in their building codes as to what they will allow.
