 o
replace/insulate pipe from spring to cabin?

We bought a cabin in northern VT. We get water from a spring about 250 feet away. Some of the pipe runs above ground and it will begin to freeze in October/November when winter arrives. We want to put in a new pipe and insulate and/or have a heating cable inside the pipe, so we would be able to stop the freezing and go there through Christmas. We can get to all of the connections and we have done projects around the house and want to try to do this on our own. Can anyone suggest the best steps to take or products to use? Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

What happens when the power goes out? Can you bury the pipe or have the water run through it constantly?
